Apply to clean, damp hair right after washing and conditioning. No.9 Bond Protector is always the first step in any styling routine. It must go on before any other styling product. Applying other products first reduces how effectively the serum forms its protective barrier and limits its heat protection ability.
Dispense a small amount into the palm. Start with less than expected. A small volume spreads much further than it appears in the hand. Apply first to the ends, then work the product upward toward the roots. This direction puts the most product on the driest, most damaged areas, which is where it is needed most.
Work the serum evenly through all lengths using the fingers. No.9 is water-activated, meaning it needs to be distributed through damp hair to spread and absorb correctly. For longer or thicker hair, use a wide-tooth comb after applying by hand to make sure no sections are missed, and coverage is even.
Style immediately in whichever way suits the day. Air-dry for a natural, soft texture. Blow-dry section by section for a smooth, polished finish. Use a diffuser for defined waves or curls. This serum does not interfere with any styling method and provides active heat protection up to 232 degrees Celsius (450 degrees Fahrenheit) throughout the process. No separate heat protectant is needed when No.9 is applied correctly.
On non-wash days, apply a very small amount to dry hair to manage frizz, reduce static, and add a healthy satin shine. The pollution-blocking benefit remains active for up to 48 hours per application, making it a useful daily product even on days when hair is not washed. For complete frizz control, use No.9 first and layer No.6 Bond Smoother on top.
